Strawberry Margarita – A Taste of Summer

There is hardly anything I enjoy more than sitting on our terrace with my wife on a warm summer evening, relaxing and watching the day slowly come to an end.

Every now and then, we love treating ourselves to a homemade strawberry margarita. The combination of sweet, fresh strawberries, tangy lime and tequila brings a wonderful taste of summer to our glasses.

It’s these little moments together that make life so special. Sometimes, all you need is a delicious drink and the right company.

Ingredients

Ingredients for 2 Strawberry Margaritas

  • 100 ml tequila
  • 50 ml triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 8–10 fresh strawberries, washed
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice, as needed
  • Granulated sugar for the rims of the glasses
  • 1 lime wedge for moistening the glass rims
  • 2 strawberry halves for garnish (taken from the strawberries listed above)

Instructions

1. Prepare the glasses

Sprinkle some granulated sugar onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rims of two cocktail glasses, then gently dip the rims into the sugar to create a lovely sweet coating.

2. Prepare the strawberries

Wash the strawberries and remove their green tops. Set aside two strawberry halves for garnish. Place the remaining strawberries in a blender.

3. Blend the strawberry margaritas

Add the tequila, triple sec or orange liqueur, freshly squeezed lime juice and a handful of crushed ice to the strawberries in the blender.

Blend everything until you have a wonderfully fruity, smooth and creamy cocktail.

If you prefer a thicker, icier margarita, simply add a little more crushed ice and blend again briefly.

4. Serve

Divide the freshly prepared strawberry margarita evenly between the two glasses with sugared rims. Garnish each glass with half a strawberry.

5. Enjoy together

Serve immediately while beautifully chilled. It’s the perfect drink to enjoy together on a warm summer evening on the terrace, with good company and a little time to relax.

My Personal Kitchen Tip

You can easily give this margarita a fruity twist! Try using fresh raspberries, blackberries or a mixture of different berries instead of strawberries.

On especially warm summer days, I also like using frozen berries. They help keep the cocktail wonderfully cold and give it a lovely creamy texture.

Experiment with your favourite fruits – you might just discover your own perfect margarita!
